Vision and mission of the farm

Sustenance intends to become a model farm, with focus on preserving and promoting indigenous knowledge and traditions. It also aims at bringing back youth into agriculture by offering training programmes in farming particularly aimed at school drop-outs.

Current operations

Situated on the tar road that goes towards Edyanchavady, Sustenance is easily accessible from the center of Auroville. It grows a wide range of seasonal vegetables and fruit. Some pulses and grain crops are also grown. There are a few cows, which by providing manure help to bring back the fertility of the soil.  Irrigation is currently done with a TNEB connection.

Plans in the upcoming years

To continue work on improving soil fertility and increase production. There are plans to install a solar pump for making the farm more sustainable. This is a young farm that is also working towards being financially sustainable.
